A Separate School for Women, Founding Jackson College, 1905-1910
President Frederick W. Hamilton
Frederick W. Hamilton became President of Tufts in 1905. Within two years, he was strongly advocating for the women of Tufts to be segregated into a separate college. In 1910, the Tufts Board of Trustees voted to form Jackson College.
The 1910-1911 Tufts College Catalogue reflected the change in women's status on campus.
