The law on this denial of women's right to speak or plead in court and this representation of it is explained above in the label entitled "Heidelberg Sachsenspiegel." Heidelberg shows a more aggressive pose on the woman's part, a negative in this time. Oldenburg has moved the judge away from the text and put the woman in the center of the register. The other figure is that of a cleric agreeing to advocate for a man not entitled to do so in an ecclesiastical court because he has been banned. The illustrator chooses not to represent his banishment, the reason for his exclusion, preferring to provide a solution to his problem; whereas for the woman's problem, he elects to show the cause only, omitting any strategy for dealing with her silencing. Oldenburg marginalizes this case by further "banishing" him off to the right under the text.
